  • Ever since I can remember, I’ve always loved jerky, but as I tried different varieties on the market, there was something missing.  I wanted something more and something different.  That desire sent me on a quest to find the perfect jerky with flavors and textures that really connected with me.  Time and time again, each jerky seemed to lead me to similar and mundane experiences. I decided I needed to create something special myself.

    As a second generation Korean-American, I was accustomed to the flavors of my mother’s traditional Korean cooking.  I loved the unique flavors and textures of traditional Korean home cooking.  The nutty sesame oil, heat from Korean chili peppers, punch of garlic, and subtle sweetness of Korean cuisine inspired me to create what is now YookPo.

    It's been over 15 years since I made my first batch of jerky.  You can say that it’s been a decade and a half of experimenting and learning how to make the perfect jerky.  I’m constantly testing and searching for the perfect jerky experience with all the Asian flavors that I love.  My original quest to make the perfect jerky turned into a passion to make jerky for others to enjoy.  When I see people light up when they try YookPo, it warms my heart.

    YookPo represents me and my Asian heritage, the desire to make something special, and the love of making the finest Asian jerky for everyone to enjoy. I hope you love YookPo as much as I do!
